SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, TRADEMARK/USE OF NAME, Technology Licensing Office (TLO), to be responsible for management of MIT’s trademarks and its trademark licensing program working with other MIT offices.  Will assist in protecting and promoting MIT’s reputation through working with the MIT community to implement MIT’s Use of Name policy.  The primary duties will include managing MIT’s trademark licensing program and working with other MIT units to standardize the use of MIT’s trademarks, interacting with vendors to license trademarks and managing a database of license and licensee information; filing trademark registrations with the United State Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on behalf of various stakeholders at MI; assisting with responding to Use of Name requests by outside organizations and working with MIT offices; providing guidance and recommendations to MIT departments, center directors, and principal investigators to ensure that sponsors of research adhere properly to MIT’s Use of Name policies in press releases and other publicity; and negotiating directly with senior management in sponsor companies on Use of Name issues. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  at least five years of office or related experience; excellent organizational and oral and written communication skills; ability to interact with a range of people, including faculty, researchers, and business development and licensing professionals; attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; and experience working independently and exercising good judgment and discretion in the performance of all work assignments.  Some experience in trademark law and/or use of name activities preferred.  Job #18376-6
