SOM is a triple accredited School (EQUIS, AMBA, AACSB). It is known for its excellence in leadership development, its deep-rooted relationships with organisations and its focus on transforming learning and research into improved management practice.

SOM has a strong tradition in Logistics & Supply Chain Management. The Logistics, Procurement & Supply Chain Management Group is one of the largest faculty groups in Europe in these areas. Equally, the MSc in Logistics & Supply Chain Management is one of the oldest and largest Master programmes of its kind in the world. We also launched an MSc in Procurement and Supply Chain Management (2016), a new MSc in Logistics & Supply Chain Management (Oman, 2017) and our MSc Executive in Logistics & Supply Chain Management is very successful and redesigned recently to meet the requirements of the UK Level 7 Senior Leaders Master’s Degree Apprenticeship. We also run executive programmes. Overall, we have an excellent academic reputation and a recent ranking by SCM World by supply chain practitioners advocates our world-leading position (No 1 University outside North America and No 11 worldwide).

Members of the Group are research active and their research interests include, inter alia, inventory management, risk and resilience, Supply Chain 4.0, reverse logistics, procurement, big data and supply chain analytics, transport, food and retail supply chains, agile supply chains, collaboration and relationships, sustainability, simulation and modelling, manufacturing supply chain. We are publishing in top ranked journals and we are very successful in research and consulting income generation.

We would like to grow our team by appointing a new member at Professoriate level. The appointment will be on permanent basis. We welcome applications from individuals related to any specialism to the operations management and supply chain management fields and we will expect applicants to demonstrate how their research expertise complements and adds value to our core research expertise, interests and skills. Individuals commanding interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research expertise are also encouraged to apply.

You will have a PhD in a relevant subject (e.g. Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Transport Management etc.). You will also be expected to publish at the highest level and be very successful with significant income generation (e.g. research funding, consulting). The successful candidate will contribute to our graduate (MSc) and executive programmes.

At Cranfield, we value Diversity and Inclusion, and aim to create and maintain a culture in which everyone can work and study together harmoniously with dignity and respect and realise their full potential.
