Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join the Learning Technology Support (LTS) team within Information Services, as a Learning Technology Adviser on a 12 month fixed term contract. Information Services combines Library and IT functions that bring together a range of expert skills to support the schools in their teaching and research activities. The LTS team provide a wide range of practical advice, support and training on all aspects of technology enhanced learning.

The role

You will have a key role in supporting academic staff to engage with the University's suite of learning technologies, based around the institutional VLE (Moodle). Through individual consultations, staff development workshops, and remote support you will increase staff confidence to incorporate blended learning into their professional practice.

The role requires a strong customer focus and good listening skills to evaluate the needs of individual academics and teaching teams. You will apply your knowledge of online and classroom technologies to identify appropriate technical solutions to a wide range of pedagogical contexts.

You will be an active partner with academics to design and implement technology enhanced learning, and to develop learning materials as required by module and programme priorities. You will be working across all campuses, and so a willingness to travel between them is essential.

Who we are looking for

You will have a comprehensive knowledge of how VLEs and other technologies can support learning, teaching and assessment. You will have an interest in technology enhanced learning, and the ability to explore the capabilities of new and existing technologies in support of the student learning experience.

You will have experience of supporting academics with the use of technology, and of designing and delivering training sessions. You will have the expertise to create learning resources and guidance materials in a variety of formats. You have the communication skills to initiate and maintain a network of relationships within our schools and professional services.
