The Vice-Principal and Academic Dean of King’s University College reports to the Principal of the University and works within a collegial environment that respects diverse community interests and voices. The Vice-Principal and Academic Dean is the senior academic officer of the University College and is accountable for promoting and ensuring alignment of the portfolio of policies, programs, and resources with King’s academic and student experience mission. As Vice-Principal, the Vice-Principal and Academic Dean provides strategic leadership and coordination of activities within the Academic Dean’s office, all academic departments and the School of Social Work, the School of Management, Economics and Mathematics, Student Affairs, and the Libraries, including the development of related policies, programs and procedures. The Vice-Principal and Academic Dean, in conjunction with the Dean of Students, provides leadership in the management, planning, coordination, supervision and evaluation of identified student affairs programs, integration programs that support student learning and development, and other initiatives for students, campus services, and Residence Services. The Vice-Principal and Academic Dean is the College’s Senior Academic Administrator and with the support of the Associate Dean, Academic & Research, directs and coordinates College activities including the planning, development and implementation of academic and research policies, programs, practices and standards which are the core of the College’s goals. The Vice-Principal and Academic Dean also assists the Principal in being attentive to the enhancement of the Catholic character of King’s.

As the ideal candidate, you have a doctoral degree and a distinctive record of academic achievement, publication, and a demonstrated commitment to teaching, learning, and research. You bring a record of demonstrated success in administrative leadership and experience in or an appreciation for working within a complex or bicameral governance structure, an affiliated/federated University College system and within a Catholic liberal arts institution context.  Your vitae provides evidence of successful grant funding and/or an understanding of the major Canadian or international granting agency programs. You have experience in fostering and maintaining positive relationships and partnerships with community, business, government, and other institutions locally, nationally and internationally.  You are a collegial and student-focused leader, committed to academic excellence, positive and productive relationships, and responsible administration.
