Job Description Summary

This scientist will serve as a liaison between the Pennsylvania Game Commission and the Pennsylvania Wildlife Futures Program at Penn Vet, and communicate with and convey scientific and program information to other partners and stakeholders. The successful candidate will assist with information and education activities, including social media posts, press releases, informational documents, videos, or blogs; assist in publishing case reports or research findings in peer-reviewed journals; prepare articles for the Game News or other popular press magazines. Preference will be given to a veterinarian who can also serve as support and back up to state wildlife veterinarian. This position is located in Harrisburg, PA.

Job Description

Maintain ongoing communications between the Pennsylvania Game Commission, the Pennsylvania Wildlife Futures Program at Penn Vet, and other partners and stakeholders.

Conduct informational and educational outreach with social media posts, press releases, informational documents, videos, blogs, invited talks and lectures.

Prepare case reports and research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Write articles for Game News or other popular press magazines.

Provide veterinary services to Pennsylvania Game Commission in support of the state wildlife veterinarian.

Represent the Pennsylvania Wildlife Futures Program at local, state, and national meetings as appropriate.

PhD or D.V.M. and 5 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
