Job Description Summary

Provide administrative and academic support for the Penn Initiative for the Study of Markets (PISM) in the Economics Department in the School of Arts and Sciences.

Job Description

The Economics Department, located in the University of Pennsylvania's School of Arts and Sciences, is ranked among the top ten in the U.S. Its faculty, productive and research-oriented, is committed to the advancement of economic science. The Coordinator will provide coordination and administrative support for the Penn Initiative for the Study of Markets (PISM) which includes overseeing all duties associated with the PISM distinguished visitors. Such tasks include promoting the events by advertising to the faculty, visitors, graduate, and undergraduate students in the Department of Economics or other related departments; manage hotel and travel arrangements for the guest; processing the guest’s travel receipts for reimbursement or payment of honorarium; meeting the guest on-campus and preparing his or her office space; reserving a room and presentation equipment for the event through the Vice Provost for University Life (VPUL) or Wharton; attending the event to take photographs, set-up a projector, and ensure smooth execution; assisting in writing the guest’s itinerary; manage the PISM budget and write annual report, and performing other duties as needed.

Qualifications

High School Degree and 5 years to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred. Must be professional, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel. Experience with Concur and Ben Financial purchasing system preferred. Experience working in an academic environment strongly preferred.
