The Faculty of Medicine and Health is the largest faculty in the University. The faculty comprises seven academic schools and ten clinical schools which are positioned within the Sydney Medical School. The academic schools are responsible for academic governance of all education programs offered by the faculty and are led by a Head of School and Dean or a Head of School. The clinical schools contribute to education and research in the faculty and are led by a Head of Clinical School.
We are seeking to appoint a distinguished senior academic at Level E (Professor of Practice) as Associate Dean (Community and Primary Health Care Practice). The Associate Dean will work with all academic and clinical schools of the faculty to provide strategic and operational direction in accordance with the elements of the faculty’s strategic plan relevant to their respective portfolio areas. As a senior leadership role, this position contributes to the Faculty Leadership Group on future planning and broader strategic matters. The Associate Dean will also represent the faculty in their portfolio University Executive Committee. In this regard, they will contribute to development and implementation of the University’s policies and strategies and communicate these across the faculty.
The Associate Dean, as a member of the Faculty Leadership Group, will be responsible for facilitating the development of the strategy for education, research and engagement as it relates to community and primary health care. This goal will be accomplished by building positive working relationships with other leaders relevant to the portfolio across the University, the Faculty Leadership Group and within the health sector more broadly. The Associate Dean will need to communicate the academic and operational vision for the Faculty of Medicine and Health as it relates to the portfolio. The Associate Dean must be able to lead by example – through excellence in research, education or engagement activities. The Associate Dean will ensure that the strategic interests of this portfolio are represented at the highest level in the faculty.
The successful applicant must have a wide network of established relationships with key community, academic, government and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders, that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the faculty and University.
Term and remuneration
The initial appointment will be for 5 years with the opportunity for renewal subject to assessment of performance.
The successful candidate will be offered an attractive remuneration package.
