We are seeking a hard-working, organised and able person to work in the world class Centre for Academic Primary Care, situated in the Population Health Sciences department of the Bristol Medical School.

The post holder will work closely with Dr Ridd (GP and Associate Professor in Primary Care) on his programme of research, whose focus is on skin problems and food allergy.  Your main role will be to help develop new research proposals from initial ideas through to completion of outline and full funding applications.  The ability to rapidly assimilate new ideas, undertake literature reviews, develop robust methodological approaches and to write succinctly and fluently will be vital. It is anticipated that the main methodologies to be used will be quantitative including systematic reviews, observational studies and RCTs. The experienced and ambitious individual will play an integral role in future research, with (subject to funding) opportunity to include a suitably funded role for the post-holder.  We are keen to develop NIHR grant applications that are relevant to NHS priorities and hosted at BNSSG Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).  Where appropriate, you will also be involved with ensuring existing projects are delivered to time, target and budget.

This is a new position and the appointment will be on Grade J of the University’s grade structure, depending on experience. Applications for this part-time post (60% FTE – with most working days overlapping with Dr Ridd) are invited from people with a background in health care research and delivery. The post is offered for 12 months, although there may be opportunities to continue working in the School beyond this date.
