Applications are invited for the post of Junior Web Developer in the IT Department – Enterprise Applications.

This post will form a key part of the Web and Mobile Applications team, helping to design and implement elegant and compelling web-based experiences that enable colleagues and students to interact with the University’s web and mobile applications.

The post holder will continue their web development journey at Royal Holloway by assisting with the design of interactive prototypes, participate in the daily scrums and help turn the prototypes into working solutions using front-end technologies such as HTML5, Angular JS, Bootstrap and Sass.

Under the guidance of senior members of the team, the successful candidate will be exposed to back end technologies such as .Net Core, Umbraco CMS and SQL Server and will assist with the second line support activities working from the service desk ticketing system. There are plenty of training opportunities as the post holder will have access to Microsoft subscriptions, a Pluralsight licence and gain knowledge from seasoned team members.

In order to be considered for this role, a passion for web development is a must have, along with knowledge of programming using a language such as JavaScript, C#, Python or Java.

Prior experience of building websites / applications using HTML5, CSS 3 and JavaScript is essential, either at an academic level or in industry, and whilst education to degree level or equivalent is beneficial, a demonstrable portfolio of projects or completion of industry relevant course would be an acceptable alternative.

Knowledge of Angular JS or a server side language such as ASP.Net or PHP is desirable but not essential as training can be provided if necessary.

The successful candidate will also possess excellent attention to detail as they will be creating elements for use on the public website, they will have clear written and verbal communications skills and will be able to demonstrate a logical approach to problem solving.

In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including generous annual leave and training and development opportunities. The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
