As part of its strategic investment and development, the Department of Informatics at King’s is seeking applications from candidates for the position of Professor in Artificial Intelligence, starting in summer 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful applicant will need an excellent knowledge and awareness of current research and practical challenges in Artificial Intelligence and a sustained track record of outstanding research contributions and involvement in major projects.

The Department seeks to broaden and deepen its current strengths, and the successful candidate will be expected to provide academic leadership in the area of Artificial Intelligence, and to play a leading role in this area across the Faculty and wider university. Building research collaboration across research groups, department hubs, other departments and across King’s is strongly encouraged. Depending on background, the successful candidate will be given the opportunity to join a relevant research group and will be expected to engage with departmental Hubs.

Our staff and students come from all over the world and the Department is proud of its friendly and inclusive culture. Diversity is positively encouraged with a number of family-friendly policies, including the operation of a core hours policy, the right to apply for flexible working and support for staff returning from periods of extended absence, for example maternity leave.

Applicants must have a PhD, an excellent publication record, and strong track record of attracting research funding.  It is essential that applicants have the enthusiasm and commitment required to contribute to the further development of the research standing of the Department of Informatics, and to make a full contribution to teaching and administrative activities.

King’s College London is a multi-disciplinary, research-led university with over 31,000 students and 8,500 employees, based in the heart of London.
