Carnegie School of Education
Ref: REQ0000270
Full-time, permanent
Grade 10 £60,493, - £71,492

This is an exciting time to join the Carnegie School of Education at Leeds Beckett University. As well as becoming one of the best performing providers of teacher education in the country, we’ve developed a reputation for innovation in our teaching, curriculum and partnership work. We’ve also created a strategy to embed research into everything we do but not just any research – we want to develop research that improves the life chances of children and young people, creating real impact in regional, national and international contexts.

We’re currently seeking to appoint a new Head of Interdisciplinary Studies to lead an innovative and highly creative department that houses a wide range of courses including BA Educational Psychology, PGCert Coaching and Mentoring and the MA Inclusive Practice as well as our large postgraduate research provision. With highly motivated staff researching areas such as race and education, LGBTQ+ inclusion and special educational needs, the successful candidate will continue to develop our reputation for education grounded within social justice and community collaboration. Reporting to the Dean of School, the postholder will be a highly skilled and inspirational leader with a first degree and a doctorate in a relevant area, and be able to demonstrate an outstanding record of achievement in teaching and leading interdisciplinary curriculum. In addition, you should have a track record of high quality, impactful research as well as experience of supervising postgraduate research students.

Potential candidates are encouraged to make informal contact with the Dean of the School of Education, Professor Damien Page: Damien.page@leedsbeckett.ac.uk

Closing date: 5 February 2020 (Midnight).
