Description
The Department of Astronomy & Astrophysics at The University of Chicago invites applications for tenured Associate Professor in any area of observational, experimental, theoretical, and computational astrophysics. We are particularly interested in candidates with research programs in the areas of Theoretical Cosmology, Exoplanets and Planet Formation, or Observational Extragalactic Astrophysics. Faculty in the Department of Astronomy & Astrophysics lead a wide range of world-class research projects, as described at the Department website: astro.uchicago.edu. The University of Chicago is a founding partner of the Giant Magellan Telescope, and members of the Department have access to the Magellan Telescopes. Department members are also involved in the Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics, Fermilab, and Argonne National Laboratory, and joint appointments with these units are possible.
Qualifications
We seek candidates with an established record of high-impact research. At the time of hire the successful candidate must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. in Astrophysics, Physics, or a closely related field.
