Job Details

The European Commission has funded a study, ImpleMentAll (www.implementall.eu), to develop and evaluate tailored implementation approaches to internet-based cognitive behavioural therapy (iCBT) across eight European countries and Australia.  The project involves an effectiveness study of an implementation intervention on service uptake and other implementation outcomes. As part of the project, a qualitative process evaluation study is being led by Northumbria University, working with partners in the consortium. The main focus of this qualitative study is to identify, characterise and understand how implementers across different study sites undertake implementation activities, using a toolkit intended to facilitate tailored implementation, and factors affecting this work. The qualitative study involves telephone- based and face to face interviews and observations with professional individuals working in implementation roles across diverse service settings in partner countries, qualitative analysis of a large multi-national dataset, and working with theory to conceptualise findings. We are looking to recruit a post-doctoral researcher to join the existing process evaluation team at Northumbria University, and to contribute to all aspects of the process evaluation study.

The appointed person will be based in the Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Health within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Northumbria University. They will work from our Coach Lane campus, and occasional travel to European partner sites may be requested.

You will need to have a good first degree in a social science or a health-related discipline.  A PhD or other postgraduate qualification is essential. Evidence of expertise in medical sociology, science and technology studies or social science research related to health and excellent qualitative analysis skills are also essential. Experience of research in the field of implementation science is desirable.

The successful applicant will be a self-starter, able to work independently and also to contribute to the wider activities of the Department.

The post is full time for 13 months from 1st March 2020.
