The School and Department

The Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, is one of the most successful medical faculties in the country. We consistently rank in the top 40 universities worldwide for clinical, pre-clinical and health sciences. As the Head of School, you will develop and encourage a shared vision for the future directions, goals and priorities of the school and establish, lead and build research and educational programs to further develop and enhance the school’s national and international reputation as a world class centre.

The Central Clinical School (CCS), located within the Alfred Research Alliance precinct, is a core hub for translational research and medicine, covering a great breadth of subject areas. The School’s research is highly collaborative, nationally and internationally with world leaders in biomedical and clinical research. CCS encourages multidisciplinary research across separate fields and attracts elite students, researchers, and teachers to its well-equipped research laboratories and facilities.

CCS offers a wide range of both undergraduate and postgraduate study programs as well as coordinating the teaching of Monash’s medical students across the Monash-affiliated teaching hospitals of Alfred Health, Cabrini Health Australia and Peninsula Health. With such close links to health care providers, we are able to rapidly move towards health outcomes in improved patient care.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join Monash University as Professor of Medicine and Head of Central Clinical School where you will exercise a special responsibility in providing leadership and in fostering excellence in research, teaching, professional activities and policy development. The Professorial appointment will be a continuing appointment in Central Clinical School and will include the role of Head of School for an initial period of up to 5 years, with the opportunity for renewal.

In your role as Professor and Head of School, you will provide high-level strategic leadership to the school that is aligned with faculty and university strategic plans.

To be successful in this role you will hold a Research Doctorate in a relevant discipline, be a fully registered medical practitioner in the State of Victoria or hold a fully registrable qualification, Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, meet Alfred Health Credentialing standards for a scope of practice in general medicine and/or a relevant speciality area.
