About the opportunity 

We are in a period of exciting and significant investment in our Faculty of Medicine and Health and in order to deliver on the University’s ambitious strategic plan, we are looking for a Manager, Research Enterprise to join the Research Unit based at the Camperdown Campus.

As the Manager, Research Enterprise, reporting into the Head of Research & Development, will undertake and support the development and implementation of initiatives for growing research in the Faculty by fostering successful collaboration between academic researchers and industry, government and other sources. Some of your responsibilities are listed below:

  • supporting the identification of capability gaps in our workforce expertise in research partnership and commercialistion and aid in developing strategies to fill these gaps
  • initiate, design and deliver strategies, policies and programs relating to the Faculty’s research partnerships including facilitation of timely information and authoritative advice on opportunities
  • build on existing relationships with industry and other non-government organisations
  • identify and coordinate opportunities for Faculty-wide collaboration
  • assist the Business Development Manager(s) identify opportunities for commercialisation of Faculty-generated intellectual property
  • this role will be required to travel between locations.

About you

  • demonstrated experience in developing and implementing an organisational business intelligence strategy that contributes to its performance and results through high level analysis, reporting and a robust data set
  • demonstrated ability to deliver executive-level oral and written communications to senior internal and external stakeholders and interact and liaise directly with those stakeholders, including demonstrated experience in communication data and findings to non-experts
  • substantial experience in strategic planning and analysis and/or business intelligence and assessing performance against set internal objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and external benchmarks
  • demonstrated ability in conducting thorough analyses of quantitative and qualitative data, assessing implications for the faculty and delivering complex and comprehensive reports
  • demonstrated experience with a wide range of business intelligence and analytical tools, and in gathering, managing, manipulating and visualising data using tools including Excel, Power BI, SPSS and database software, and experience in data extraction from enterprise data sources. 

The ideal candidate will have highly developed leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, including skills in team and internal relationship building, negotiation, influencing and motivation, and the ability to prioritise workloads.
