The School of Mathematics, Computer Science & Engineering is a multi-disciplinary centre of research and education located in the heart of London’s vibrant design community. It is proud of its research advances and of educating thousands of undergraduates and postgraduates in STEM subjects. The School hosts a wind tunnel national facility and have good collaboration with the aerospace industry. The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics is ranked fifth in London by the Guardian and offers several BEng, MEng and MSc programmes. Its research is organised in two multi-disciplinary Research Centres: the Aerodynamics and Flow Control Research Centre; and the Thermofluids Research Centre.

Responsibilities

The appointed academic will contribute to the delivery of high quality education in structural dynamics or aircraft design at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and will lead curriculum development in all aspects of aeronautical engineering, particularly in emerging topics.

Person Specification

You will hold a PhD in Aeronautical Engineering or a related discipline with knowledge of aeronautical design, structural dynamics or aeroelasticity; and will have collaborated with academics and industry, both domestically and internationally, to produce world-class excellent research. You will be a member of a relevant professional body (or be working towards it); will have a good understanding of trends in higher education and the aerospace employment market; and a commitment to and enthusiasm for delivering high quality education. For appointment as Senior Lecturer, candidates will have in addition the skills and experience to make a significant contribution as a member of the academic community and to the achievement of the academic objectives of the School, including taking a lead on one or more aspects of research or education.
