Position Summary

The mission of the Stanford Center on Longevity (SCL) is to accelerate and implement scientific discoveries, technological advances, behavioral practices, and social norms so that century long lives are healthy and rewarding.

 We are seeking an energetic, creative individual to fill the position of Communications Associate and assist in the refinement of the Center’s overall communications strategy and implementation across channels. Critical to the success of this position is a deep understanding of social media platforms, practices and norms; excellent verbal and written communications skills; knowledge of email automation platforms; and the ability to work well autonomously, as well as with a team in a collaborative environment. 

The Communications Assistant will work closely with, and report to, the Head of SCL Communications.

 Core Duties

  • Post articles, reports, videos and podcasts on the website (WordPress).
  • Create and format collateral materials (web and print) for in-house publishing.
  • Research relevant articles, videos and podcasts to post/link to on our website and social media.
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of the Center’s monthly newsletter.
  • Write short summaries for research articles.
  • Use Google Analytics to monitor use and engagement and generate reports.
  • Maintain and update web directories of key groups such as faculty affiliates and Advisory Council members.
  • Assist in the development of meeting websites.
  • Source photography for use on the website, in collateral materials and in social media posts.
  • Assist team members with the production of slide decks for presentations.
  • Digitally edit images.
  • Additional duties may be added.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software including: InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Ability to edit and create content using WordPress.
  • Proficiency in common email automation platforms (e.g. Constant Contact or Mailchimp).
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player.

 
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift/carry up to 30 pounds.
Frequently stand/walk, sit, use a telephone, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, speaking.
 
Working Conditions

  • Full-time
  • Evenings and weekends as needed.
