Position overview

The ANU College of Asia and the Pacific (CAP) leads intellectual engagement with the Asia-Pacific region through research, teaching and contributions to public debate, and seeks to set the international standard for scholarship concerning the region.

Crawford School of Public Policy is one of four Schools within CAP and one of the world’s leading public policy schools. Crawford School is the university's focal point for contributing to public policy research, education and policy impact. Its graduate programs have trained many of the region’s leaders, and its research has impacted on policy making. Public policy scholarship at Crawford School is characterised by high quality, policy-relevant research across a range of disciplines.

We are seeking a post-doctoral early career researcher to be appointed at Level A (Postdoctoral Fellow) within Crawford School’s Policy and Governance program.  The Postdoctoral Fellow will be primarily engaged in research on Indian politics or public policy, whether domestic or international in nature.  We are particularly interested in candidates with interests in political economy, economic development, or technological change.  The position will also involve sharing research findings and new perspectives with the wider public.  Fellows with appropriate credentials may have opportunities to contribute to teaching at the Crawford School as well.

The Fellow will also be a member of the New Generation Network (NGN) at the Australia India Institute (Aii). The NGN is a partnership of Australian universities supporting an interdisciplinary collection of postdoctoral fellows undertaking research on contemporary India. NGN scholars participate in twice yearly NGN activities, receive Aii mentorship, and collaborate with other scholars across the network. They also receive professional development opportunities, interacting with figures from government, business, and third sector organisations. In addition, NGN scholars are able to avail of the facilities provided by Aii in Delhi.
