About Us
The Stanford School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences (SE3) develops the knowledge and talent to understand the workings of the planet and to help solve resource and environmental challenges.

The Change Leadership for Sustainability Program, a coterminal master’s program launched three years ago within SE3, is looking for a service- and detail-oriented Student Services Officer to join our team on a half-time basis. The Student Services Officer plays a lead role administering Program, School, and University policies and procedures as they pertain to coterminal master’s students, and supports the team with program development and evaluation, curriculum management, and community engagement.

The Change Leadership for Sustainability community is growing fast and includes 35 coterminal master’s students from a wide range of undergraduate majors, a nascent alumni network, and dozens of affiliated faculty members from all seven schools at Stanford University. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong administrative and people skills to join a collaborative team environment and work closely with Stanford students as they pursue graduate-level studies and develop into sustainability leaders.

Your Responsibilities may include:

  • Oversee, review and administer student records, and counsel students by providing information and recommendations. Interpret policies and determine appropriate course of action on nuanced issues of eligibility, enrollment and program requirements.
  • Develop recommendations and collaborate with staff, faculty and other offices to resolve programmatic issues within the school and across functional units, such as strategizing to ensure optimal enrollment and resolving course scheduling conflicts.
  • Provide advice to students on a range of issues, including, but not limited to, academic progress, academic program policies, career plans, accessibility, community standards, etc., to guide them in making appropriate choices and decisions.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of events such as student orientations, community-building activities, and information sessions for prospective students. Assist team with outreach and marketing strategies and development of supporting materials.
  • Apprise students of research, fellowship and scholarship opportunities. Participate in related student recruitment and selection.
  • Provide first-line response to identify students in crisis and refer to appropriate resources, as needed.
  • Collect and analyze data from multiple sources including first-line interactions with students, course and program surveys, and trend reports. Prepare summary reports and develop recommendations to enhance program offerings (e.g., courses, events, student resources) and improve processes and policies.
  • Stay current on School and University policy updates and best practices, and provide team with recommendations for implementing changes.
  • Identify trends, perform needs analysis, and participate in the implementation and testing of new technology.
  • Provide administrative support for financial processes such as expense reimbursements, data entry, reviewing terms and conditions of contracts, understanding vendor requirements, and following up and resolving issues.
