We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher with expertise in Interaction Design or sociotechnical system design, to work on an EU Horizon 2020 project, primarily in the area of design for security, specifically tools for the secure management of EU borders based on a risk-based screening approach. The TRESSPASS (robusT Risk basEd Screening and alert System for PASSengers and luggage) project is a 42 month innovation action that commenced in June 2018 and will run until November 2022.

Maynooth University's role in this project is to lead the work package on "operational methods and acceptability" and participate in several other work packages, offering human factors, behavioural, and design expertise towards the development of security technologies, and to evaluate from a human factors point of view the effectiveness of the systems in operational context.

The successful candidate may also be asked to contribute to the teaching activities within the department corresponding to their own interests, knowledge, and experience, and potentially contribute to other current EU projects in the areas of border security and health.

Post-Doctoral Researcher (2019) Salary Scale: €37,874 - €43,782 per annum (6 points)

Appointment will be made in accordance with the Department of Finance pay guidelines.

*New entrants to the public sector will be appointed on the first point of the above scale.
