We are seeking a self-motivated individual possibly with a research nurse of clinical trial background, who will be collecting blood samples from people with the autoimmune disease, SLE.  Experience with patient recruitment, and phlebotomy would be highly advantageous.  Blood samples will be processed to purify mononuclear cells which will be stored and then transported in batches to the Sanger Institute for analysis using single cell sequencing.  Participants will be recruited from the Lupus clinic at Guy’s hospital, and possibly from King’s College hospital (contingent on recruitment rates).  The group at Guy’s have an international reputation in the genetic analysis of SLE.  This work is part of a collaboration including two other recruitment centres and is funded by a grant from the Open Targets https://genetics.opentargets.org scheme.  The aim of the study is investigate how SLE risk alleles influence gene expression at the single cell level.


This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 12 months.
