Time commitment: 1.5 days per month

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of higher education (HE) in Wales.

The Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) is a Welsh Government Sponsored Body established under the Further and Higher Education Act 1992.  It is responsible for the regulation of the higher education sector in Wales under provisions contained in the Higher Education (Wales) Act 2015.  It also administers funds made available by the Welsh Government to support education, research and associated activities at nine higher education providers in Wales, including the Open University in Wales, and provides funds for prescribed higher education courses at further education colleges in Wales.  It uses its expertise to help deliver Welsh Government priorities for higher education.

The HE sector in Wales, in common with the rest of the UK, continues to face significant challenges and opportunities as it adapts and responds to a changing environment.  As an active Council member you will play a key role in ensuring that the organisation responds positively to the ongoing challenges, is flexible and fit for purpose, and able to fulfil its vision of sustaining internationally excellent higher education for the benefit of individuals, society and the economy in Wales. 

We are looking to appoint members to fill current and upcoming vacancies.

To meet current skills gaps we particularly wish to encourage applications from individuals who can demonstrate current or recent experience in one or more of the following areas:

• the wider post-compulsory sector, work-based learning and training and  experience of working across sectors;
• a strong research background and/or experience of working with Research Councils;
• an employer in knowledge-based or skills-based business and/or experience in graduate recruitment and/or employment.

To meet Welsh language requirements we are looking to appoint at least one member with the ability to communicate in Welsh.  Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential for other members. 

You will be required to commit to 1.5 days per month, which includes attending at least six Council meetings a year, and also participate in visits to providers, workshops and committees. Most meetings will be held at HEFCW’s office in Bedwas, near Caerphilly, South Wales, however, some may be held at other locations in Wales.  Remuneration for this post will be £5,076 p.a., plus expenses.

Dyma gyfle cyffrous i chwarae rhan allweddol yn y gwaith o lunio dyfodol addysg uwch (AU) yng Nghymru.

Mae Cyngor Cyllido Addysg Uwch Cymru (CCAUC) yn Gorff a Noddir gan Lywodraeth Cymru a sefydlwyd o dan Ddeddf Addysg bellach ac Uwch 1992.  Mae'r Cyngor yn gyfrifol am reoleiddio addysg uwch yng Nghymru o dan ddarpariaethau sydd wedi'u cynnwys yn Neddf Addysg Uwch (Cymru) 2015.  Mae hefyd yn gweinyddu cronfeydd a gaiff eu darparu gan Lywodraeth Cymru i gefnogi addysg, addysgu, ymchwil a gweithgareddau cysylltiedig mewn naw Prifysgol, gan gynnwys y Brifysgol Agored yng Nghymru, ac mae'n darparu arian ar gyfer cyrsiau addysg uwch rhagnodedig mewn colegau addysg bellach yng Nghymru.   Mae'n defnyddio ei arbenigedd i helpu i gyflawni blaenoriaethau Llywodraeth Cymru ar gyfer addysg uwch.

Rydym yn gobeithio penodi aelodau i lenwi swyddi sy'n wag ar hyn o bryd ac a fydd yn wag cyn hir.

Er mwyn llenwi'r bylchau presennol mewn sgiliau, rydym yn arbennig o awyddus i annog ceisiadau gan unigolion sy'n gallu dangos profiad cyfredol neu ddiweddar mewn un neu fwy o'r meysydd canlynol:

• y sector ôl-orfodol ehangach, dysgu a hyfforddiant seiliedig ar waith a phrofiad o weithio ar draws sectorau;
   
• cefndir ymchwil cryf a/neu brofiad o weithio gyda Chynghorau Ymchwil;
   
• cyflogwr mewn busnes seiliedig ar wybodaeth neu sgiliau a/neu brofiad mewn recriwtio a/neu gyflogi graddedigion.
   

Er mwyn bodloni’r gofynion mewn perthynas â’r Gymraeg, rydym yn awyddus i benodi o leiaf un aelod sy'n gallu cyfathrebu yn Gymraeg.  Mae sgiliau Cymraeg yn ddymunol ond nid yn hanfodol i aelodau eraill. 

Bydd gofyn i chi ymrwymo i 1.5 diwrnod y mis, sy'n cynnwys mynychu o leiaf chwe chyfarfod y Cyngor bob blwyddyn, a hefyd cymryd rhan mewn ymweliadau â darparwyr, gweithdai a phwyllgorau. Bydd y rhan fwyaf o gyfarfodydd yn cael eu cynnal yn Swyddfa CCAUC ym Medwas, ger Caerffili, ond gall rhai gael eu cynnal mewn lleoliadau eraill yng Nghymru.  Tâl y swydd hon fydd £5,076 y flwyddyn, ynghyd â threuliau.

Mae'n bolisi gan Lywodraeth Cymru i hyrwyddo cyfle cyfartal a'i ymgorffori ym mhob agwedd ar ei busnes gan gynnwys penodiadau i gyrff cyhoeddus.
