Role Description

Cranfield School of Management (SOM) is a leading provider of innovative, practical management education focused on the outcomes for learners and organisations. We are a world leader in research and education on leadership and management, delivering outstanding scholarship and excellent teaching through our distinctive academics and their direct engagement with practice.

Degree apprenticeships (Masterships ®) are a new venture for the University and constitute a multi-million pound revenue stream. The School’s Mastership programmes include the Exec MBA, MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, MSc in Management and Leadership, MSc in Retail and Digital Banking and MSc in Business and Strategic Leadership (closed company corporate MSc). Starting with the Exec MBA with Grant Thornton, which was launched in September 2017, we have grown our number of students studying under on Apprenticeships Programmes to over 700. This represents extraordinary growth in a short period, and we are recruiting this additional role into the team to maintain the level of service.

Reporting to the School of Management’s Director of Finance and Operations, this challenging role encompasses supporting students and their employers through the Apprenticeship process to success, balancing resources against the demands placed upon the Service.

The Apprenticeship Tutor will be responsible for ensuring each Apprenticeship student is given support and guidance to help them to successfully complete the End Point Assessment. You will support each student in translating their academic learning to apply the knowledge, skills, behaviours required by the relevant Apprenticeship standard in the workplace. You will be both able to coach and support students across a range of sectors, as well as evaluate and advise on submission of End Point Assessments.

The role will also be required to work with departments outside of SOM who are also aligned to the Mastership activity within the University.

This role would suit an individual with excellent communications skills, the ability to build and sustain relationships across a diverse organisation and with external stakeholders and the ability to set and meet deadlines. A good understanding of the higher education sector, management education and university administration more broadly will serve you well in this role.

You will ideally be degree qualified or possess equivalent experience in business, coaching or similar subject. Previous experience of evaluating within a work based learning programme or apprenticeship scheme or experience of tutoring/coaching at a Management Level in a work based learning environment will be an advantage.

For an informal discussion, please contact Neil Wilson, Director of Finance & Operations, on +44 (0)1234 75 4398 or (E); neil.wilson@cranfield.ac.uk

At Cranfield, we value Diversity and Inclusion, and aim to create and maintain a culture in which everyone can work and study together harmoniously with dignity and respect and realise their full potential. We actively consider flexible working options such as part-time, compressed or flexible hours and/or an element of homeworking, and commit to exploring the possibilities for each role.
