The development of cutting edge technology to deliver biomedical and health science teaching is occurring at Swinburne, and this is an exciting opportunity to be part of world first development in teaching within the School of Health Science.

As our new Lecturer, Biomedical Science, you will be focused on providing teaching and research in the Department of Health and Medical Science at Swinburne University. You will have expertise in Health and/or Biomedical Science and will contribute to curriculum and research in Biomedical Science in undergraduate and postgraduate programs within the School of Health Science at Swinburne University. Swinburne University is delivering our health science curriculum through a number of different media; including face to face, online, and using virtual and augmented reality systems.

The Lecturer will contribute to the development and delivery of curriculum in health science for both the Bachelor of Health Science as well as supporting postgraduate entry-level professional courses in the Department of Health Professions. The candidate will participate in the administration and ongoing curriculum development of related courses offered by the department and school and contribute to work integrated learning and progress an active research profile aligned to the strategic direction of the Faculty of Health, Arts and Design.

The primary focus of the Lecturer in Biomedical Science is to convene and teach undergraduate units, contribute to coordination of academic programs and supervise research students. Expertise in the areas of immunology, genetics, pathophysiology and/or molecular neuroscience are particularly welcomed. The incumbent will be expected to function as a member of both discipline-based and interdisciplinary teams to help the faculty to achieve its objectives.

About you

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • A doctoral qualification in Health Science, Biomedicine or a closely related discipline
  • Knowledge in one or more areas of Health Science or Biomedicine. A background in one or more of infections and immunity, genes and genomics, pathophysiology or developmental/molecular neuroscience is required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to innovative education, including blended learning formats, online teaching and the use of a variety of visual formats
  • Capacity to contribute to research teams and capacity to communicate research outcomes
