Lecturer - Learning Disability Nursing - Fixed Term - 12 Months

We are currently looking for a Lecturer in Learning Disability Nursing to join our School of Health & Social Care on a full time, fixed term basis.

Edinburgh Napier is one of the largest providers of nursing and midwifery education in Scotland with a strong inter-professional and transnational education portfolio. Uniquely, in Scotland, the School offers midwifery and all four fields of practice in nursing: adult, child health, mental health and learning disabilities, alongside allied health professions and social work.

The school is structured into a number of themes that signify our areas of strength and growth; these consist of programmes of education, research, enterprise (CPD and Consultancy) and professional practice. Our versatile simulation and clinical skills centre offers students experience critical care and ward environments through to a home environment. The simulation and clinical skills centre utilised to facilitate learning and simulations to a number of external organisations and private companies.

The Role

As Lecturer, you will develop, design and deliver teaching and student centred learning to our Learning Disability Nursing students within our Bachelor and Masters in Nursing programmes, along with supporting a broader range of subjects.

You may also contribute to collaborative research projects; contribute to the School's research profile, leading to the production of high quality research outputs/outcomes. You will be enthusiastic about cross-disciplinary and collaborative working across the University and with our specialised industry partners, including the NHS, to support Theme priority areas of activity.

Who we are looking for?

Essential requirements

  • Current active membership with the Nursing and Midwifery Council 
  • Experience of working with people with learning disabilities to promote health and wellbeing in an health and social care setting
  • Demonstrable evidence of teaching and supporting learners in clinical/academic settings
  • Doctoral level qualification 
  • Commitment to sustained continuous professional/academic development.

Desirable requirements

  • Post-graduate certificate in higher education or equivalent.
  • Evidence of applying for external funding. 
  • Evidence of disseminating high quality output including through publications and presentations.
