Following the promotion of the current Academic Registrar to the post of Secretary and Registrar, the University now seeks a successor.  You will report directly to the Secretary and Registrar and leads a large Strategic Business Unit, they will play a key role in helping the Institution develop in a complex, challenging and rapidly changing environment.

Main duties and responsibilities

You are responsible for the success of the Academic Registry Strategic Business Unit (SBU) and will provide professional leadership to staff in the Academic Registry. You will advise the Secretary and Registrar and lead on the direction of policy, regulatory and procedural matters for all academic and professional staff across the University.

You will lead, direct and develop all sections of the central academic administration of the University, including the leadership of a newly formed Student Administration Service which will be established in April 2020 bringing current School based student programme administration together into three hubs. 

You will have management of staff c350 staff and all the resources allocated to the Academic Registry.  You will write the SBU annual plan and set the objectives to be followed by the staff of the Academic Registry and give direction on policy.

Skills and experience required

You will have a substantial knowledge of the issues facing the UK Higher Education Sector and the forthcoming key pressures within UK universities in addition to a good understanding of regulatory frameworks and their efficient and positive use with an HEI.

You will be able to demonstrate proven experience and record of delivery at managing administrative functions at a senior level and developing business plans or financial and strategic planning. The ability to build successful working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders is essential.

Qualifications

You will hold an Honours Degree (or equivalent qualification), or substantial relevant experience. A postgraduate qualification in a relevant area is desirable.
