The School of Computing Sciences is also on a major trajectory for growth in terms of new appointments, innovative course developments as well as national and international research collaborations with distinguished institutions.  It is also in the process of planning for a future new purpose-designed building to host the School, its teaching facilities and research groups.

We are looking for an internationally recognised research leader in Smart Connected Environments to provide leadership and contribute to the research development and ambitions of the School. Candidates will be expected to have an outstanding recent journal publication portfolio and a sustained record of substantial recent external grant funding from prestigious sources together with an excellent track record of relevant teaching, mentoring and supervision in the Higher Education sector.

The School provides a vibrant environment in which to carry out Computing Science and allied research. It is currently sited within the UEA Science Faculty, strategicay housed between the University’s Schools of Mathematics, Environmental, and Biological Sciences. Within the School there are research laboratories dedicated to graphic, colour, vision, speech, computational biology, Al-machine learning statistics.

We also have activities in Smart Emerging Technologies with specific focus on Cloud Computing/Virtualisation, IoT, Cyber Security and Communications Protocols for Autonomous Systems such as UAVs and V2X.

The successful appointee will be expected to engage in high-quality research; actively contribute to teaching; provide academic leadership involving the development and management of research programmes, teaching and/or enterprise activities; and undertake relevant administration within the School.

The successful candidate will also have opportunities to engage in university-industry R&D collaboration such as collaboration with BT Global Research Centres in UK, India, Middle East and China as part of ongoing and new initiatives between UEA and BT Research.
