We are looking to appoint a Lecturer in Strategy/Operations on our Learning and Teaching or Research pathwayThe successful candidate will play a significant role in supporting and developing the delivery of Strategic and Operations Management and related subject areas within the Management Subject Group. The post will contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of our strategic management and international business portfolio whilst supporting our ambitions to develop the area of operations/project management/logistics within the undergraduate and, in particular, our postgraduate MSc/MBA curriculum.

The role

You will join the Management Subject Group in the School under the leadership of Professor Brian Howieson. This ambitious, growing team consists of academics on Enterprise, Learning and Teaching, Professional Practice and Research pathways who make significant contributions across all strands of endeavour. Your contribution on the Learning and Teaching or Research pathway will be in the area of Strategic Management or Operations/Project Management. We particularly welcome applicants with related industry experience. You will have the opportunity to influence the direction of our curriculum going forward and become involved in both module and programme leadership. We have a diverse and vibrant curriculum. It is expected that you will contribute to our international deliveries in, for example Hong Kong and Singapore. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to our growing Global Online Portfolio.

You will be responsible for developing, designing and delivering teaching and student centred learning underpinned by academic scholarship and professional practice, within your assigned areas of responsibility.

You will also be required to conduct individual and collaborative research projects, contributing to the research profile within your School, leading to the production of high quality research outputs/outcomes.

You will contribute to the University's objective of growing our academic reputation for research-informed student learning based on industry awareness.

You must be ambitious and enthusiastic about cross-disciplinary working and be committed to working collaboratively across the University. You will be required to work independently and as part of a team, supporting others. You will have excellent communication skills and effective interpersonal skills with the ability to listen, engage and inspire others.

Who we are looking for

In addition to the role profile the following criteria are essential:

  • A doctoral level qualification in the relevant discipline
  • Evidence of a professional academic and research profile
  • Sufficient breadth and depth of experience to support and develop high quality teaching/learning and research projects
  • Demonstrable evidence of teaching specialisation/experience within the Strategy/Operations area.
  • Commitment to supporting international and online delivery
