SAMS is one of the UK’s leading marine research institutes. We have a global reputation for research and a growing reputation as a partner in the University of the Highlands and Islands. Our subsidiary commercial company provides marine survey, research and development consultancy services to the public and private sectors in the UK and overseas. SAMS has around 160 staff and is based in modern facilities in a beautiful waterside location on the Scottish west coast, less than 100 miles from Glasgow.

We wish to recruit a commercially-focused individual with excellent team management skills, ideally with experience across public, private and not for profit organisations, who will ensure this ambitious and dynamic organization is supported with strong financial processes. Working as part of the senior management team, the post holder will be responsible for a team of 13 who together deliver finance and contract management.  Continuing the successful implementation of the NetSuite MIS system will form an important part of this role.

The post is open-ended and we are looking for a pro-active, accountancy-qualified individual with excellent communication and organisational skills. Successful candidates will bring a strong track record of leading change, developing highly successful financial support services teams and managing effective relationships with key stakeholders and partner organisations including University of the Highlands and Islands, other Higher Education Institutions and funding bodies.
