LECTURER IN POLITICS

Politics & International Relations seeks to appoint a full-time, permanent Lecturer with particular expertise in democracy and representation, including the digital society and digital approaches to political communication, campaigns, and elections.

Politics and International Relations (PIR) is a medium-sized Department within the School of Social Science.  Aberdeen is distinguished by diversity in teaching and research interests and robust undergraduate and postgraduate student numbers.

The successful applicant will be expected to undertake student teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervise undergraduate dissertations, develop on-line teaching modules, and participate in the academic administration of the Department and School.

The successful candidate should have completed their PhD in Politics and/or International Relations, and have experience of teaching Politics and/or International Relations.

They should have experience of undertaking tutorials and lecturing at various levels of study. They should have some expertise in quantitative and digital/IT methods. They should be self-motivated, flexible and have an ability to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students, inspiring them to learn. There should be a clear demonstration of an academic career trajectory, and a willingness to make a full contribution to the School’s activities.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 scale (£41,526 - £49,552 per annum), with placement according to qualifications and experience.
