  • Full-time, continuing Academic Level C or D with a base salary of $130,000 to $172,000 p.a, plus superannuation

About the opportunity 

As Head of Learning Centre you will be responsible for providing senior strategic and administrative support to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (PVC), Student Life. You will also direct Academic Enrichment with regards to the overall management of all aspects of the Learning Centre. Your core responsibilities will include the development and implementation of strategic business plans; the management of complex initiatives and the handling of significant staff and financial resources. On top of this, you’ll be expected to liaise with relevant stakeholders from across the University, in order to support the delivery of the University’s strategic initiatives.

In this role, you will lead the recruitment, orientation, supervision, development and appraisal of a medium-sized and diverse staff. As the head of your team, it will be your responsibility to ensure the timely development, delivery, evaluation and promotion, of high-quality academic language and learning support that meet the needs of the University. Due to the Learning Centre being a diverse unit, we are seeking an innovative and collaborative Head of Learning Centre that can effectively guide our vision for the future of the Centre.  

About you

  • possesses a PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline and a national/international reputation in the field
  • intimately understands many of the key strategic issues that can occur in the higher education sector
  • has a wide network of establi shed relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, as well as an array of connections with relevant stakeholders, all of which can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the Learning Centre and University
  • has demonstrated experience in operat ional management
  • has the knowledge and capabilities to deftly support and lead a variety of academic endeavours, including curriculum design, the production of leading research and the provision of an environment which galvanises student learning
  • can successfully lead and manage change, including the student experience for students from a diverse range of backgrounds there is additional selection criteria regarding leadership and research at both Academic levels C and D.
