About The Role
The School of Media and Communication aims to produce graduates who will respond creatively to the challenges of a rapidly changing international, media-driven environment. The School has strong links with industry, and responds to ongoing change brought about by technology and globalisation. The School is positioned as a major contributor to and leader of the debate within media and communication industries.
The School now seeks a Lecturer, Public Relations to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the public relations and communication discipline. You will be responsible for carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities.
You will teach into public relations and communication courses in the Bachelor of Communication (Public Relations) program. You will also be expected to actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. Working collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and updating colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation will be imperative to your success in this role.
You will be responsible for carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate (Bachelor of Communication (Public Relations) program. You will have a proven record of academic and/or professional achievement in Public Relations related to RMIT University's research efforts. You will have proven ability to undertake high quality research resulting in high quality journal articles in recognised international journals together with your ability to prepare and win competitive research grants.
We are seeking a Lecturer that can teach into generalist and specialist public relations and communication courses. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment, will be necessary for success in this role.
Mandatory: PhD or equivalent in relevant field
Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
