This is an opportunity to join a team on a 15 month long project funded by the British Academy, to investigate the gendered experience of Taliban violence in the Swat Valley of Pakistan, as the memories and imaginaries of that conflict are interpreted through the lens of Swat’s rich pre-Islamic and contemporary heritage spaces. The post-holder will be involved in the management of the field teams, as well as quality control of the data generated through the research, and then analysis and publication. The post-holder is expected to have a PhD in hand, be fluent in Pashto & Urdu in addition to being able to conduct field work in a sensitive part of Pakistan. Demonstrated ability to manage field teams and experience in Pakistan a plus.
This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 15 months.
This is a full-time post.
The selection process will include a panel interview, an assessment, and a short presentation.
