Overall Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the University’s multidisciplinary Department of Business, Law and Society at a key moment in its development. The Department currently offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Business Management, Communications and Marketing, Charity Management, Criminology and Sociology, Diplomacy and International Relations, Human Trafficking, Law, Politics, Sports Journalism and Sports Management. The degrees have professional accreditation, including some accreditations from CIPFA and CIMA. We wish to develop the professional accreditations and the range of degrees at all levels.

The person appointed will contribute to teaching a variety of business management courses at the undergraduate and foundation levels and possibly post-graduate level and also contribute to student support and the development of undergraduate degree courses. Prior experience of designing degree courses is preferred and experience as, or capability to undertake Student Support and Programme Development roles in support of Programme Directors are necessary. In addition, the postholder will be responsible for professional accreditations on the business management portfolio. The postholder may undertake some original research, and it is expected that they will keep up-to-date with the subject area to the extent necessary to ensure that teaching remains at the cutting edge.

The postholder will be involved in professional development courses and supervise student projects and possibly act as a research adviser on PhDs where their professional experience is helpful. They will work with Programme Directors, heads of department and the associate dean for student experience to improve satisfaction, ensure compliance with legal requirements and with University policies and procedures.
