This post is within the School of Engineering and Materials Science, a large School with approximately 70-80 academic staff and 50 postdoctoral research staff. There are around 1000 undergraduate and taught postgraduate students and 220 PhD students. 45 administrative and technical staff support the staff and students. The staff and student body are international in make-up. The School is partway through a refurbishment project that is upgrading research and teaching space. The School holds a departmental-level Bronze Athena SWAN award and is committed to equality of opportunity.

About the role

The School of Engineering and Materials Science is seeking to appoint a dynamic individual to the post of Taught Programmes Manager.

The Taught Programmes Manger has overall operational responsibility for all aspects of the student journey from admissions and through their academic studies, including any work placements, and on to graduation. Working closely with the School Manager and senior academic colleagues, the Taught Programmes Manager is vital in ensuring that our taught students have an outstanding experience as students of the School of Engineering & Materials Science. The post holder will lead a team of 7 staff, including recruitment & admissions, taught programmes administration and industrial placements.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of excellence in Higher Education administration, with experience of managing and leading a team. The successful candidate will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and will have excellent organisational and communication skills.

The post is a full time, permanent appointment, with an expected start date of January 2020. Starting salary will be in the range of £47,325 - £52,833 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
