Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE) is seeking its next Vice-President.

YCCECE is the first and only specialist Early Childhood Education (ECE) degree-awarding institution in Hong Kong, incorporated under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap. 320) in 2018. YCCECE is a member of Yew Chung Education Foundation (YCEF), an established non-profit organization with over 87 years of pioneering history in Early Childhood and international education.

YCCECE and its sister institutions are part of an extensive and growing network of kindergartens, schools, and college, providing quality education to approximately 10,000 students, spanning from infancy to tertiary, across more than 20 locations in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Silicon Valley in the US.

All YCCECE study programmes bear a clear focus in Early Childhood Education (ECE), which according to the UNESCO, is an extensive, multi-disciplinary field of science and social science. Current programme provisions include our flagship 4-year Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood Education (BEdECE) (in FT and PT modes and launched in September 2018), Higher Diploma in Early Childhood Education and the Diploma in Early Childhood Studies.

YCCECE is deeply committed to nurturing a new generation of passionate and inspired ECE professionals, who will have an enduring impact on the lives of numerous young children and their families, and truly change the world.  Our boutique-sized College values and promotes interactive learning, small-class teaching and hands-on experiences. Being an English-speaking College with an international faculty, we also attract non-Chinese-speaking students, and take pride in our staff and student diversity.

The Role

The Vice-President plays a crucial role in assisting the College President to lead a young, non-profit and self-financed institution which is poised to grow and develop further in the coming years. The Vice-President will have broad strategic responsibilities and management responsibilities and works closely with all unit heads.

Appointment criteria

Prospective candidates should hold a Doctoral degree in Education or related discipline, a higher degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred. Applicants should have executive leadership, a strong understanding of the Hong Kong Higher Education sector, and

• possess the necessary intellectual qualities inclusive of a strong aspiration and commitment in leading the College in its pursuit of academic and professional excellence in Early Childhood Education (ECE);
• have a strong vision of the College’s role, commitment and future developments in Higher Education not only in Hong Kong, but also in Greater China, the Asia-Pacific region and internationally;
• be able to lead a cross-cultural, closely knit academic and ECE practitioner community and demonstrate the ability to build a united team, resolve conflicts, and manage change; and
• be able to strategically leverage upon and strengthen inherent synergies between YCCECE and its sponsoring body as well as its network of sister institutions, and thus further building the unique “brand” and market positioning of YCCECE.
