Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) is a young and vibrant university, delivering world-class teaching, research, and community outreach in the context of a caring and globally-aware campus culture. The University has a student population of around 11,300 with a broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered in Arts, Business, Chinese Medicine, Communication, Science, Social Sciences, Visual Arts, and Continuing Education. The University currently has a staff strength of more than 3,400, inclusive of full-time and part-time colleagues.

HKBU has begun a vigorous and sustained period of development which will require both a stronger commitment to international benchmarking and a greatly enhanced data analytics and planning capacity. The University’s ambitious 10-year Institutional Strategic Plan 2018-28 (ISP) aims to transform HKBU into a leading liberal arts institution with a regional and international reputation. Our Talent100 initiative, already well under way and meeting with notable success, seeks to recruit 100 new academic staff from around the world by 2022.

Institutional Research and Strategic Planning

The Associate Vice-President (Institutional Research and Strategic Planning) will play an instrumental role in supporting the work of the Provost, particularly in the implementation of the ISP. The successful candidate will lead efforts to promote a culture of strategic, data-informed decision-making and benchmarking. Working with our existing computing services staff and other relevant stakeholders, he/she will identify priorities, implement appropriate assessment tools and systems, and collect, store, analyse and publish data on activities related to strategic priorities. He/she will have a sophisticated understanding of advanced technologies and will possess good communication and inter-personal skills to work with staff across the university, recognizing the sensitivities and support required in leading the institution from where it is now towards a more data driven environment.

Appointment Terms:

The appointment will normally be made on a three-year term, and renewable subject to review and mutual agreement. Remuneration package includes basic salary, retirement/gratuity benefits currently at 15% of basic salary, annual leave, medical and dental scheme, and as appropriate, housing assistance and relocation allowance.
