Job description

The School of Computing, Electronics and Mathematics is looking for hourly paid lecturers in Computer Science to supplement its full time staff.

The Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Computing at Coventry University is one of the largest in the UK and is nationally and internationally renowned as a centre of innovation for its teaching, learning and research of computing subject areas. The School of Computing, Electronics and Mathematics is one of three schools within the faculty and has a very successful suite of courses supported by excellent staff, teaching facilities and laboratories. The school is responsible for the development of a thriving portfolio of teaching and research.  We offer undergraduate degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electronic Engineering, and Computer Hardware and Software Engineering. Our postgraduate courses include Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems Engineering, and Electrical Automotive Engineering.

We are interested in supplementing the electrical and electronics team primarily in the areas of:

  • Digital Electronics
  • Analogue Electronics
  • Power Electronics
  • Electrical Science
  • Control and Instrumentation
  • Machines and Drives

Other areas related to the teaching in the school will also be considered.

The position is part time and temporary, initially for the period Jan to May 2020, although it may be possible for the posts to extend beyond that period. Positions will be for a maximum of 200 hours per year.

The position will include activities such as -

  • Marking assessment
  • Helping with labs
  • Helping with tutorial sessions
  • Delivering lectures

The hourly rate includes appropriate time for preparation and marking.

You will be responsible for the delivery and support of learning, teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level. You will work closely with the course teams to help provide the high-quality learning environment our students expect.

Applicants should hold a post-graduate degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering, or a related subject. Applicants with substantial professional experience with professional qualifications and/or membership in a professional body will also be considered. Experience of working in higher education will be very useful.
