The Centre for Arts and Design (CAD), housed in the Faculty of Social Sciences, collaborates with the Department of Communication to offer an interdisciplinary specialization in art, design, and creative media in visual communication leading to Master’s and PhD degrees. CAD invites applications for the position of Senior Instructor in the discipline of Modern and Contemporary Chinese and Western Art History and Theory. The successful candidate needs to contribute administrative duties to the Centre and teach a variety of Master and PhD courses in Art History and Art Theory. Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Chinese or Western art history and theory or related fields for the position of Senior Instructor; possession of a relevant PhD degree will be an absolute advantage. The candidate should demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills and a commitment to diversity. Candidates with curatorial and administrative experience, and the experience in supervising MA and PhD students for their theses and dissertations will be prioritized. While applicants must be excellent in English (speaking and academic writing), ability to speak Chinese may be considered an asset for the appointment.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty as early as January 2020.

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP788,480 (approximately USD97,340) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
