The Centre for Arts and Design (CAD) housed in the Faculty of Social Sciences collaborates with the Department of Communication to offer an interdisciplinary specialization in art, design, and creative media in visual communication leading to Master’s and PhD degrees. Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Professor/Senior Instructor in art and design with expertise and experience in experimental video, video animation, new media, interactive design, web design, and/or photography. Qualifications

Candidates must hold a PhD or MFA/MA degree in art, design or new media. Besides the technical skills required for the particular media, the successful candidate should also be a well-rounded artist and educator demonstrating in-depth knowledge in contemporary art, art criticism and art theory, and has the ability to mentor/supervise MA and PhD students for their theses and dissertations. Candidates should have successful teaching experience at the university level with an active exhibition record and the potential to succeed in creative media. Successful candidate should also demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills and a commitment to diversity. While candidate needs to be fluent in English, speaking and writing Chinese would be considered as an asset, for the appointment.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in August 2020.

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP819,280 (approximately USD101,150) for the position of Senior Instructor or MOP1,016,400 (approximately USD125,480) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
