Overview:

Applications are invited for the post of Senior Biomedical Scientist (Maternity cover) within the Blizard Institute, Queen Mary University of London. The Blizard Institute is the largest institute of Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry and aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

Applications are now invited for the post of Senior Biomedical Scientist to join this prominent Institute within Core-Pathology, a core facility based at the Pathology and Pharmacy Building at Whitechapel. We are a self-funding department providing histological services to the private sector, the NHS and support for research and teaching both within Queen Mary University and for other external research institutions. This post will assist the Laboratory Manager in the provision of a core histopathology facility.

Applicants should be educated to degree level, or equivalent, and hold state registration with the Health Professions Council. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise a demanding and varied workload.

This is a fixed-term, full-time post to cover a period of maternity leave for 12 months. This post is available due to maternity leave, and it is expected that the successful candidate will hold it for the full period. However, should the post-holder on maternity leave exercise her right to return to work earlier, then this appointment will be terminated, subject to a notice period of one month.

Starting salary will be in the range £ 34,220 - £ 40,194 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
