Overview

This is a unique and rewarding opportunity for an ECU graduate who has recently completed their accounting qualification, or will be completing it by the end of 2019, to launch their accounting career by gaining practical all-round experience working within a large world-class organisation.

In the spirit of ECU’s strategic focus on learning outcomes and career readiness for our graduates, ECU’s Finance and Business Services Centre annually recruit a Graduate Accountant for a 3 year program. We are currently recruiting for this role, which will commence in early 2020.

The Graduate Accountant position will assist in the preparation of statutory financial reports, gaining valuable skills over the first two years in areas of financial accounting, fixed asset management, treasury operations and cash management. During this period, the position will be placed within two different teams to enable focus on different aspects of accounting. In the third year of the program, subject to successfully achieving key milestones (including completion of CA/CPA accreditation), accountants will be promoted to a Senior Graduate Accountant position and undertake higher duties during this final year which will include providing advice and problem resolution across areas within the University. Training, mentorship and peer support will be provided to ensure success in the program.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Recently graduated from ECU with an accounting qualification within the last 24 months, or will have completed their ECU accounting qualification by the end of 2019;
  • A good understanding of financial accounting concepts;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Intermediate excel skills;
  • Intention to commence/continue CA or CPA studies during the duration of the 3 year program.

Benefits & Remuneration

This 3 year fixed-term, full-time, position attracts remuneration of $65,761 plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
