We have a vacancy for a new role as Deputy Accounts Payable Manager, based in Augustine’s Courtyard in the centre of Bristol.

The Accounts Payable team comprises four smaller teams - three serving our colleagues in the Faculty Finance teams, plus the Payments team who undertake the processing of BACs, Bank Transfer and cheque payments. The Deputy Accounts Payable Manager (Deputy APM) will act as Team Leader for the Payments team, with additional responsibility for supporting the Accounts Payable Manager and other Team Leaders in the day to day operation of the larger AP team.  The role holder will also be required to collate and report on a number of performance indicators on a daily/monthly basis, and lead on Continuous Improvement initiatives to improve the overall performance of the function. These tasks require data analysis, analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to make appropriate decisions, working independently, but within a team environment.

We are looking for applicants educated to A-level or equivalent, who have significant relevant experience of managing people within an Accounts Payable function and with a comprehensive knowledge of the AP work practices, processes and procedures, ideally within a large complex organisation. You should have an aptitude for exploring and delivering technological solutions and a strong customer service focused attitude. Awareness of VAT regulations and GDPR is desirable but not essential. You should be a good communicator, able to organise workloads effectively and work well under pressure.
