The Centre for Experimental Medicine & Rheumatology opened in May 2007 and is led by Professor Costantino Pitzalis. The Centre is focused on the development of innovative therapeutic and diagnostic approaches to inflammatory and degenerative arthropathies, including rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. The emphasis is on translational research by combining strengths and expertise of basic and clinician scientists working together. The Centre offers newly refurbished laboratories, cutting edge facilities and is located in the heart of the City of London in close proximity to the Barbican Arts and Music Centre. The Centre is integrated in the Musculoskeletal Clinical Academic Unit at Barts Health NHS Trust also directed by Professor Pitzalis, which includes in addition to Rheumatology, Orthopaedics and Sport and Exercise Medicine offering unique translational opportunities.
The Study Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating activities relating to a portfolio of Rheumatology/Musculoskeletal studies. This is a 70:30 split role:
- 30% at the Centre for Experimental Medicine & Rheumatology (EMR), William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London, Charterhouse Square the post-holder will be responsible for central coordination and governance activities such as protocol development, submissions to Ethics Committees/HRA, database development, monitoring on a number of QMUL/Barts health Sponsored studies.
- 70% at Barts Arthritis Centre, Mile End Hospital, Barts Health NHST Trust, the post-holder will oversee the execution of studies, patient recruitment and study delivery. The post-holder will support a portfolio of both academic and commercial hosted clinical trials of investigational medicinal products (CTIMPs) and non-CTIMPs. The post-holder will manage a team of Clinical Trial Practitioners in activities such as identifying patients suitable for entry into clinical trials, organising patient assessments and visits, coordinating collection and preparation of biological samples and supporting patients throughout the delivery of their care on clinical trials. The post-holder will oversee their administrative responsibilities including data entry, maintenance of patient records and creating and maintain Investigator Site Files.
This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 15 months.
Salary will be in the range of £34,220 - £40,194 per annum, depending on experience, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, pension scheme, interest-free season ticket loan and family-friendly working.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
