The post is funded by the Wellcome Trust to investigate the regulation of contraction in the heart. We recently discovered a new class of regulatory mechanism that mediates the fast autoregulatory responses of the heart, and this project aims to discover how those mechanisms work on the timescale of the heartbeat. We expect the results to be transformative for understanding the regulation of the healthy heart and for development of new therapies for heart disease. The post-holder will be primarily responsible for will be responsible for the molecular biology and protein biochemistry aspects of the programme.
The successful candidate is likely to have laboratory experience in molecular biology and protein biochemistry, including protein expression, purification and characterisation, and an interest in a career in cardiovascular research. Training in the specific methods used in the programme will be provided.
This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.
The selection process will include a panel interview.
