Department of Sociology

The Department is seeking applicants (i) with teaching expertise in a wide variety of areas, including but not limited to: aging/life courses, sociology of health, food, race and ethnicity, sports, and religion, (ii) who preferably are able to teach introductory sociology, sociological theories, and writing for sociology; and (iii) who are able to supervise students’ research projects, and contribute to student advising and internship supervision.

Applicants are expected to hold a PhD degree in Sociology at the time of appointment. They should also be able to demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching, and willing to work with students from diverse backgrounds and collaboratively with colleagues. Those without a doctoral degree may be considered if their other qualifications are strong.

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of up to 18 months commencing January 2020. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
