Exciting opportunity for a senior academic with proven research and teaching capabilities in the discipline of music

The Elder Conservatorium of Music is seeking a senior academic with proven research and teaching capabilities in the discipline of music. You will contribute to the Conservatorium’s reputation for excellence in teaching; producing research outputs that have national and international impact and act as an advocate for music within academic and community contexts.

In this role you will help lead and encourage an environment of professional excellence, creativity and innovation and engage with the broader academic, research and professional community, to promote and enhance the national and international profile of the Conservatorium and the University.

The Elder Conservatorium of Music is one of Australia’s oldest and most distinguished tertiary music schools. The Conservatorium offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs designed to meet the needs and aspirations of a wide variety of students and includes specialisations in Performance (classical and jazz), Music Theatre, Composition, Music Teaching, Music, Health and Wellbeing, Studio Pedagogy, Sonic Arts and Creative Technologies, Musicology and Popular Music.

To be successful at Level C you will need:

• A doctorate in music in an area relevant to the Conservatorium’s research aspirations and Australian Field of Research (FoR) 1904. 
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching music within a university environment.
• A record of academic distinction and significant professional standing in the field of music.
• A research track record with evidence of recent quality outputs in FoR 1904 and evidence of research leadership and competitive grant success.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development of scholarship, research and engagement within the Conservatorium including the ability to work effectively as a member of a team, to mentor others and to provide guidance and support for students and staff.

In addition to the above, to be successful at Level D, you will need:

• A record of academic distinction and significant professional standing in the field of music in addition to a demonstrated excellence in teaching music within a university environment.
• Demonstrated ability to forge meaningful external relationships and represent the Conservatorium and the University locally, nationally and internationally, to community, industry and other academic institutions and partners.
• An ability to take a leadership role in the development of the Elder Conservatorium’s research and teaching activities.
• Demonstrated experience with online learning management systems or a willingness to engage in online learning management systems training.

This position requires a valid Working with Children Check.
