The University of Portsmouth is ranked among the top 2% of universities worldwide by the Times Higher Education World University rankings.  Portsmouth Law School is an ambitious and fast-growing School. It currently comprises 32 members of staff (FTE).  Many members of staff are professionally qualified and the School has strong links with the legal profession and with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

Portsmouth Law School is an established provider of undergraduate and postgraduate law degrees and has a growing reputation for the breadth of its clinical legal education and innovation in learning and teaching.

The School is seeking to appoint a part-time (0.6 FTE) Supervising Solicitor Teaching Fellow.  Candidates should hold a current practising certificate and be able to act as professional supervisor in the student led clinic providing feedback and guidance on all aspects of interviewing and advising clients.  Candidates are also expected to be able to contribute to the teaching of CILEx Level 6 modules in Conveyancing, Civil Litigation and Client Care.

The successful candidate may also be asked to contribute to the delivery of core and specialist modules in UK Law at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

You will have drive and a commitment to excellence in learning and teaching.  Support to develop teaching skills is available for less experienced staff.

Informal enquiries may be made to Caroline Strevens, Head of Portsmouth Law School, 023 9284 4240, email Caroline.Strevens@port.ac.uk or Marnie Lovejoy, Associate Head of Portsmouth Law School, 023 9284 4812, email Marnie.Lovejoy@port.ac.uk.

Please note that this job does not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) to qualify for an employer-sponsored visa and therefore unfortunately we are unable to consider applications from candidates who require sponsorship to work in the UK.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons and all appointments will be made on merit. As we are committed to the principles of the Race Equality Charter Mark, we would particularly welcome applications from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community who are currently under-represented at this level in this area.
