About the QM Academy

The QM Academy is a new department at Queen Mary and its purpose is to provide development for academic staff. Guided by the university’s 2030 strategy and associated enabling plans the QM Academy will put in place a training programme that enables academic staff to deliver an inclusive educational environment where students flourish and reach their true potential. The QM Academy will offer skills training and development opportunities to academic staff at all stages of their career, from teaching assistants through to the professoriate.

About the Role

The Administrative Officer co-ordinates and delivers the administration of the QM Academy. They will have a varied workload, ensuring efficiency and high levels of customer services across a broad range of activities. As the QM Academy is a new team within the university there will be a wide range of processes that need to be created and implemented. The post-holder will be responsible for record keeping, implementation of learning management systems, events organisation, taught programs administration, and a range of other administrative activity related to the QM Academy.  The post-holder will need to exercise excellent communication skills as the work will involve liaison with a wide-range of stakeholders.  The role has line management responsibility for the QM Academy Administrative Assistant.

About You

You will have significant administrative experience, ideally from working in a higher education environment, together with excellent organisational skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize competing responsibilities.   With a close eye for detail you will be able to set-up new record keeping systems and provide clear reports using data from these systems.    Good IT skills are essential, including competence in, and experience of using, standard Microsoft software packages (Outlook, Word, Excel) and experience of using content management systems to maintain websites.  Experience of program administration (including understanding regulations, examination board preparation and use of marks entry systems) is desirable, but training and development can be given to support the post-holder with this element of the role. Experience of direct interaction with clients and the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders is essential to the role.

Benefits

In return, we offer 30 days’ leave per annum, access to a pension scheme, a season ticket loan scheme and competitive salaries.  We also offer enhanced family friendly leave, and an on-site nursery at the Mile End campus. You will also work within a dynamic and friendly environment, with personal development opportunities.
