Post-Doctoral Research Assistant (PDRA)

Following a successful NIHR grant awarded to investigate the genetic causes of growth failure in children, applications are invited for a post of PDRA within the William Harvey Research Institute at Bart’s and The London Medical School, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). The position is within the Centre for Endocrinology, based at the Charterhouse Square Campus of QMUL in the heart of City of London. 

The post holder will be involved in a program of research with the aim of improving the recognition, diagnosis and treatment of children with growth disorders. The main duty of this post is to identify and investigate novel genetic causes of short stature in our unique cohorts of patients. This will include analysis of genetic data and undertaking functional validation of genetic variants. Some bioinformatic knowledge would be beneficial. The post-holder will be encouraged to formulate their own scientific questions arising from the data generated within this project and will work with clinician-scientists, bioinformaticians, geneticists and molecular scientists and cell biologists.

The post is full time for two years in the first instance. The starting salary will be £36,098 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, a pension scheme and an interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
